Shower meditation:
Concentrate on the warm water on your skin.
Visualize it washing away your stress and anxiety, negative thoughts, sadness, regret, and anger.
Let it all go down the drain.
Feel lightness in your body.
Enjoy the clarity of your mind.
You are free of all that does not serve you.
You are ready for a clean start.

Have you ever felt like life is a bunch of waves continually crashing into you? Like you can’t seem to catch a break?

Honestly, this is how this whole pandemic has felt for me. I’m used to being a confident, focused, driven person but when what you love and things you have worked so hard for are taken away from you, it can be hard to stay strong. Then when everything you try to do to push forward doesn’t seem to work out and nothing seems to come easy, it’s hard to not question yourself instead of the things you have no control over.

I know I am not alone and that so many others are having a difficult time too. I just wanted to remind you that the waves will break. The only thing we have control over is how we think. Keep pushing, Stay strong and we can all get through this together. ❤️

If you are looking for a good one, I am such a fan of @promptlyjournals gratitude journal. It provides daily prompts like “I am lucky to have __ in my life, this is why” and “what past experiences are you feeling grateful for this week.” Then at the end of each week of prompts there are two blank pages that feature a quote focused on gratitude, for free writing. If you do it daily it last a year! How special to be able save these positive memories to look back on.

I feel like many don’t. I think it is looked at as a thing you can only achieve if you devote your life to it. That its not possible to live a “normal” social life and still find inner peace.

If you have the will power to devote your life to it, thats amazing! BUT even if you don’t, it is still possible to achieve it.

Now that we’ve cleared up that up, some of you might be asking, what exactly is inner peace?

Inner peace is a state of emotional and mental peace even in the presence of stressors. It is being in control of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with any event or situation happening around you.

How do we learn how to do that?
⁣
One simple word but not so simple practice…Mindfulness. Over the summer I became certified in mindfulness and I plan on sharing this knowledge with all of you. It is not an easy practice but I’m hoping with the right education, tips, and reminders we can all become more mindful and gain some inner peace.

Honestly, I used to hate them. I though they were boring and kind of gross. Now I am obsessed!

First, I learned how they can benefit you. Make the water warmer than you would normally and enjoy the increased circulation and detox (sweating), it’s like a work out but without having to move! This also stimulates the release of oxycontin, the hormone that promotes the feelings of love and well-being. Then I started adding things to further benefit me; like epsom salt for muscles, coconut milk powder for silky smooth skin, different herbs, and essential oils to target specific concerns. Things for colds, things to help me sleep. This not only made me physically feel better but also mentally, and it took away the boring. Laying there paying attention to the smells, the feel, knowing all the benefits... then adding the right music, turning off the lights, and burning a candle turned a simple bathtub into an alone time utopia!

Goal setting...
⁣
Most of us start the new year by making a set of goals. To be healthier, quit something, do more of something... Set yourself up for success and try this!
⁣
Write down your goals, BUT write them in the present tense, as if it’s already done and how you feel.
⁣
Goal: Wake up earlier so I can get more done.
Write: Everyday I wake up at 6am ready and eager to start the new day.
⁣
Next, write down how you got there! How did you make this goal a reality?
⁣
Example: I go to bed early, I get a good nights sleep... You can even dive deeper into how you can achieve those. I stay off of screens past 8pm, I use a sound machine...
⁣
Now go and do these things!
